This is a great book to have with you and study with when you are flying. It gives you the FARs that you need to know as well as the AIMs. I would pick ASA products over most products that deal with flying - ASA knows there stuff and I cannot strees to you the importances of this book. I know the 2010 book is out now but there hasn't seemed to be much changes but you can always goto the ASA website and look for updates.
This book provides the basics for most pilots. It is what you probably need. However, realize there are chapters from the FAR that you'll have to find elsewhere, like the FAA website. Overall, decent price for the book compared to buying it at the FBO or flight school.
Each year ASA finds small ways to improve the format and ease of use of a pilots most important reference. Definitely won't disappoint.
Regardless of if you are a real pilot or a sim pilot, this is the must have reference for anyone with a serious interest in aviation.While other, cheaper editions exist, the ASA version is a perfect size and weight (I saw a competitor's that is much larger and is made from flimsy newsprint, making it harder to use and harder to read). With a high quality binding, high quality paper and high quality print, I recommend this edition of the FAR/AIM.
Last year I had the Jepp FAR/AIM and it was good, but this seems more precise in the formatting, and it's thinner. It also has the numbers on the flipping edge to know exactly what part you're in--much nicer. Best price ever.
